College Profile:
Robert Morris College

Over the years, Robert Morris College has gained a national reputation for serving first-generation college students and underserved communities. This sense of responsibility goes back to roots planted in 1913 as the Moser School, one of the first schools in the nation to offer professional education to women. In nearly a century, the expansions and changes are vast: there are currently 15 areas of academic study at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and the options continue to grow each year.

As the options grow, so do they evolve. Robert Morris College consistently plans for the world that will be, not just the world of today. Curricula are developed with input from leaders in industry, business and health fields. The goal is not only to educate students, but also to prepare them for careers that make them valuable contributors to society.

As a private, not for profit, accredited college, RMC grants associate, bachelors and masters degrees to over 2,000 students each year and has a total enrollment of over 7,500. In an effort to make a quality education convenient, accessible and affordable for any student with the desire for self-improvement, RMC has its main campus in Chicago and six branch campuses in Lake County, DuPage, Bensenville, Orland Park, Peoria and Springfield.

The Faculty at Robert Morris College

Robert Morris College takes great pride in the quality, caliber, dedication and professionalism of its faculty. The College actively seeks out individuals who are not only accredited and knowledgeable in their fields of study, but who are able to bring successful experience to their students and their respective departments.

As a leader in applied education, Robert Morris College encourages faculty members to be involved in their subjects through continued study, outside consulting, writing for specialized publications, community service, and memberships in professional organizations.

Instructors are available to students for tutoring, program direction, mentoring and guidance. They are dedicated to the continued achievements of their students. When a Robert Morris College student reaches his or her goal, the entire College succeeds.

Based in Chicago

There is something about the vibrancy of a busy, metropolitan city that turns even the daily commuter into a little bit of a tourist. Downtown Chicago offers the best that the city has to offer with its financial district, government base, the largest library in the world, shopping, museums, restaurants, the theater district, and growing dramatically in recent years, the "education corridor."

Educational institutions have long found a home in downtown Chicago - and Robert Morris College has become a keystone representative of those schools whose students make their way each morning into the bustling city where they find a rich, cosmopolitan campus at their feet. In a city like Chicago, the learning doesn't stop once a student walks out the front door – the city and its surroundings provide a veritable smorgasbord of learning and career possibilities as well as cultural experiences and the growth opportunities of getting to know one's way around through commuting and exploring.

Located in a landmark building at 401 South State Street, the main campus of Robert Morris College welcomes students each year into its Schools of Business Administration, Computer Studies and Nursing & Health Studies, the Institutes of Art and Design and Culinary Arts, and the Morris Graduate School of Management. The building has been renovated with particular improvements in student space and provides the latest in educational technology that is available. Every discipline incorporates the use of computers, a practice that keeps students current with the technology that is used in today's evolving business offices, medical centers, design studios and even restaurants and cultural institutions.

Branch Campuses

The newest branch campus opened July 2008 in Schaumburg. A complex solely designated for graduate studies, the campus expands the opportunity for study in the Morris Graduate School of Management to individuals in the far western suburbs. Additionally, graduate study is available at all RMC campuses.

The Lake County campus in Waukegan has an open design in its computer labs and Student Center, providing an inviting atmosphere for studying as well as socializing. The campus hosts a number of community events for the Lake County area.

Campuses in Bensenville, DuPage and Orland Park round out the locations in the Chicago area and they are continually upgraded and expanded as the programs increase in size and scope.

As a program, the Institute of Culinary Arts at Robert Morris College started out at the DuPage campus with brand new kitchens that utilize individual workstations and television monitors, making this cutting edge program extremely popular. The success of the program spawned an expansion to the downtown Chicago campus and the Orland Park campus. The program offers an associate degree in Culinary Arts, a Bachelor in Business Administration with an emphasis on Hospitality and, starting in September, a new Bachelor of Professional Studies in Culinary Arts.

Other recent additions to RMC programs include nursing and pharmacy technology.

In the past few years, the Springfield campus renovated and enlarged its facilities, providing more student-oriented space such as a Fitness Center, larger library and expanded Graphic Arts Program. The campus is easily accessible by bus and has ample parking.

The location of the Peoria campus in the busy downtown area of the city is especially convenient for students who are interested in evening classes near their jobs. These two campuses are expanding RMC's commitment to serving central Illinois.

Reaching Beyond Our Grasp

All of our programs, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, are delivered in our time-tested model of highly structured education with few electives. The process involves proactive counseling and is offered at one of the state's lowest private university tuition rates. Among 100 peer public and private universities in the nation, Robert Morris has a top ten graduation rate and is a national leader in time to earn a bachelor's degree with nearly 90 percent of bachelor's degree graduates completing their education in less than four years. The College has been designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), and is a State leader in awarding bachelor's degrees in business to minorities. While the benefits of these accomplishments accrue first to the graduates, the benefits also extend to their families, the communities in which they live, and ultimately, the entire country.
