College Profile

McDaniel College, recognized nationally among 40 Colleges that Change Lives and U.S. News top-tier national liberal arts colleges, is a four-year private college of the liberal arts and sciences offering more than 60 undergraduate programs of study, including dual and student-designed majors, plus 20 highly regarded graduate programs. Its hallmark faculty-student collaborations in research, teaching and mentoring plus hundreds of leadership and service opportunities enrich a lively learning experience that is rooted in a personalized interdisciplinary and global curriculum. Innovative January courses take students to points all over the world while McDaniel's degree-granting European campus offers a unique opportunity for international study at the only American university in Budapest, Hungary. A diverse and close-knit community of 1,600 undergraduates and more than 1,500 degree-seeking graduate students, McDaniel also boasts a spectacular 160-acre hilltop campus in Westminster, Md., an hour or less from Baltimore, D.C., the Chesapeake Bay, the Amtrak station and Baltimore-Washington international airport.

McDaniel College graduates serve Maryland as accountants and artists, professors and pediatricians, environmentalists and economists, lobbyists and lawyers, ministers and mathematicians. Our alums hold managerial positions with nine of the 10 largest private sector employers and twelve of the 15 largest public companies in the Baltimore metro region.

Programs of Study

McDaniel College offers more than 60 programs of study, including teacher certification and student-designed majors. Among the choices are 5-year B.A.-M.S. programs in Music Education, Psychology/Gerontology, Psychology-Social Work/Counseling, and Special Education. Also offered are pre-professional programs include pre-med, pre-law, pre-engineering, and pre-deaf education.

Experiential Learning

About one-third of McDaniel students study abroad for academic credit, and about 40 percent complete at least one internship. Nearly 75 percent of students perform community service by the time they graduate.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

90 percent of student receive grants, scholarships, loans, or work-study employment. About 60 percent receive need-based awards, from $200 to full tuition, annually. The College awards about $24 million each year through its scholarship and grant programs.
