University Life and Activities

We believe that learning is enhanced by the sense of community which develops when students live and study on campus. The University of Dallas is committed to establishing a continuity between intellectual and residential life. Living on campus contributes to the intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of the individual student and the community as a whole.

The University of Dallas has seven undergraduate residence halls - five "traditional-style" halls for new students, one new hall for upperclassmen and one hall for those not under the residency requirement. Four of the traditional halls are two floors, with common hallways on each floor, common bathroom and shower facilities on each floor, a lounge/TV area and a laundry room with washers and dryers. One traditional hall has one floor in a mixed-use hall (offices on first floor), with a common hallway and one common bathroom and shower facility. Every traditional hall has kitchen facilities. Traditional halls vary in size from 31 to 96 residents. The halls are directly supervised by Resident Assistants and Residence Coordinators.

All freshmen living on campus are placed in traditional hall standard double rooms with a freshman roommate. All traditional hall double rooms have standard twin-size beds, desks, and closet and drawer space for each resident. Traditional hall rooms have sinks with storage space underneath, a medicine cabinet, and limited book shelving. Housekeeping service is only provided for the common areas. Residents are responsible for the upkeep of their own rooms. Luggage may be stored by current residents in the common storage room during the academic year only.

Summer storage is not available.

A complete college education is more than just books, classes and a degree. The University of Dallas offers a wide variety of clubs and organizations that you can become involved with to enhance your collegiate experience. In addition to the student run organizations, our office offers recreational athletic competition, the opportunity for students to represent their class or community, and several programs from concerts to lectures and everything in between.

Student involvement at the University of Dallas offers you the chance for personal and professional development, as well as social and cultural enrichment.

Clubs and Organizations

Active participation in clubs and organizations is stressed for all students to develop their leadership and interaction skills outside the classroom. Students are encouraged to get involved and even form new clubs if the clubs currently in existence are not meeting their interests or needs. In the last five years we have doubled the number of active student organizations from 25 to approximately 50.

Intramural Sports

Designed to encourage participation in an action-packed, competitive sports program. A variety of major sports are offered, including volleyball, basketball, soccer, flag football, and softball. Weekend sport events include water games, frisbee, tennis, and sand volleyball. Student participation in intramurals makes it one of the largest on-campus activities outside the classroom.

Athletics

The University of Dallas currently offers 13 intercollegiate sports for men and women on the non-scholarship, Division III level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. UD is a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).
