About Texas A&M University-Kingsville
Texas A&M University-Kingsville is the premier research university in South Texas, and we're proud to offer opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in meaningful, hands-on research. Our Natural Toxins Research Center is internationally renowned for its biomedical work with snake venoms. Advances in the field of horticulture are pursued at our Citrus Center in Weslaco, responsible for the creation of the Ruby Red and Rio Star grapefruits. The Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute within the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Human Sciences seeks to advance conservation and management of wildlife. Faculty in the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering and our Center of Research Excellence in Science and Technology-Research on Environmental Sustainability of Semi-arid Coastal Areas are working on research that can impact the environment around us.
Our academic programs are recognized for their quality, and we offer many unique programs that are not found at other colleges and universities in the region – or, in some cases, anywhere else in the world! Our master's degree in ranch management is the only program of its kind across the globe, and our bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences is one of only five in the country. We also are one of 18 universities in the country to offer a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering. Our programs in environmental engineering, industrial technology, wildlife sciences and communication sciences and disorders are unique to South Texas.
We offer bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at our main campus in Kingsville. Texas A&M University-Kingsville also is the location of South Texas' only professional school, the Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, which is administered by the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
Where You Belong
At some universities, you may feel lost in a classroom filled with hundreds of students. At Texas A&M-Kingsville, classes generally have 20 students or less, which leads to one-on-one discussions and more personal attention from your professors. Our faculty are well-prepared to help you reach higher. University-wide, 72 percent of the full-time faculty have achieved the highest degree in their area of study; in many departments, the percentage is 100. They not only serve as campus leaders, but also leaders in their respective fields.
When you live in one of A&M-Kingsville's residence halls, college is a full-immersion experience. Your friends are just across the hall and your classes are just a short walk from your room. The activities and excitement of campus life are all around you, 24 hours a day, seven days a week-and it's so easy to get involved. Living on campus, particularly in one of our Living Learning Communities, also puts you in an environment designed to help you make a smooth transition to the demands of a university.
Campus services are close by, and resident advisors sponsor hall activities and programs designed to help you get acquainted with your neighbors; learn skills that can make your college years much easier such as time management and note-taking; and address topics important to you when you're living away from home for the first time.
Javelina athletes have a long, proud tradition of excellence in NCAA Division II sports. We offer competitive programs in baseball, basketball (men's and women's), cross country, football, softball, track and field and volleyball. In addition, intramural leagues are popular every semester and include football, basketball, soccer and softball.
