Why I Choose a Christian College
It's hard to decide where to go to school. Everywhere you look there are so many choices: trade and technical schools, community college, private or state universities and colleges, or colleges with a religious affiliation. As you go through the process of deciding, you will ask for opinions. You may ask parents, friends, and yourselves.
What are the benefits of attending a Christian college? Is it really worth it? While statistical analysis and reasoning are beneficial, sometimes it is just reassuring to hear why someone else chose a certain college. The students at one Christian college were recently asked that question. Maybe their responses will help you as you search for the college of your choice.

I attended a secular college before coming to a Christian college. The benefits of a Christian college are numerous. In the Christian college environment you find yourself surrounded by individuals who are striving to achieve most of the same goals. The professors show compassion, integrity and character. You also know that the professors truly care about you and that you are not just a number. The staff at a Christian college is just as willing to make sure you succeed, and even the president is willing to go the extra mile. The biggest benefit is that people at a Christian college truly care whether you succeed.

I chose a Christian college because of God's call on my life. I spent many years praying about a college, and I even wanted to go to a secular school. However since I felt this was where I was supposed to be, I came. It has been the best decision I have made since becoming a Christian. I live in an atmosphere surrounded by people with my convictions; people who share my faith! Not only do I get the college experience, I get the Christian environment! God is also providing in some magnificent ways! He is proving that it was his will for me to be here, and I thank him everyday for it!

I chose a Christian college because I wanted to be raised into the woman of God that He has called me to be: to go out into the world, equipped, and with such a strong faith, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him. I believe in a Christian college you will learn so much biblically, and grow much deeper spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. Most of us attending a Christian college will graduate being a preacher, an evangelist, a missionary, or a pastor of any ministry. Even if your career is not in the church, you could be sent out doing whatever God has called you to do to be a witness to others.

The reason why I chose a Christian college occurred just after I had rededicated my life to God. I was driving home from my first-ever open-air-rally with the local youth groups. An announcement came on the radio about touring the radio station and possible job opportunities. As a result, I began to think about my future. God all of a sudden spoke to me, saying that I needed to go to a Christian college. That is why I am here. I am glad I listened to God's call because I love the atmosphere here. One of my friends has been telling me how hard it is for her to find good solid friendships or even acquaintances that are Christians in her university. Here, I have no trouble getting to know people and creating friendships. I am very grateful to God for all of the blessings He has placed in my life through this college.

I chose a Christian College because in my hometown of Bronx, NY, there were many things restricting me and my walk with God. I felt I couldn't pray as much or as intimately as I wanted. I sent in my application to a Christian college. When I got news that I was accepted, I was filled with joy for the simple fact that I knew I was going to be surrounded by people who had the same thoughts about God as I did and that I would definitely feel God's presence. In the short time I've been here, I've felt my relationship with God become stronger and to the point where I can pray as much as I want to and more intimately.
