La Roche alumni are innovators in their professions and leaders in their communities, and the college's rich history has made this private, Catholic, coeducational college an important player in western Pennsylvania and across the world. Nearly 1,700 part- and full-students of all faiths pursue their studies at La Roche. They come from 16 states and more than 30 nations, creating a dynamic cross-cultural experience.

Student Life

La Roche fields 10 intercollegiate athletic teams competing in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) of the NCAA Division III. The college also supports more than 30 student organizations, including a student newspaper, the Student Government Association, the Writers' Center, various intramural sports, and academic and social clubs.

As it has grown as an educational institution, La Roche also has expanded the cultural and entertainment amenities it offers in its home community. The College's Performing Arts/Ballet Program conducts performances on campus and at area high schools. Annually, the La Roche Dance Department performs in Pittsburgh's Cultural District. Student and professional works are regularly featured in the college's Cantellops Art Gallery.

Campus Living

The campus is located minutes north of Pittsburgh on 80 acres of rolling hills. Home to a growing high-tech corridor and health care industry, Pittsburgh is the host city for a number of multinational corporations and has a thriving, active cultural district. Such amenities offer a host of internship and career opportunities. For your "home away from home," you will find our apartment-style suites offer students the comforts of home – a refrigerator, a microwave and a bathroom right in your suite, Internet and cable television access and free laundry service.

The Cantellops Dining Hall is centrally located in the Zappala College Center and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The Redhawk Café, a new snack shop, offers extended hours for those who may want to grab something light on the run.

The modern Kerr Fitness & Sports Center features a full-length basketball court; a fully equipped exercise room complete with free weights, strength-training equipment and cardiovascular equipment such as treadmills and exercise bikes; racquetball courts; a karate studio; men's and women's locker rooms; and an indoor walking track. Athletic facilities include a baseball field, soccer field, softball field, and outdoor tennis/basketball courts.

The Magdalen Chapel serves as the spiritual heart of the La Roche College Campus. The John J. Wright Library, located on the East Campus, houses a variety of instructional services and functions as an information center at La Roche College.
