Careers offer a long term direction for a person to specialize and continually improve their skills in a field they enjoy.

At the Academy of Court Reporting and Technology, we take career planning seriously. Our focus is much different than a community college or a large university. We enroll future graduates who are determined to pursue a career field that will return the long term rewards of stability, career satisfaction, and personal growth. We help students begin that journey from the first day they come to our school. Initially we have a career planning session, where we explore how our school and the student are a good fit for one another. If accepted to the Academy, a student will expect small class sizes and hands-on classroom experiences. Students have the chance for one-on-one coaching in not only the technical skills for their field, but in preparing for the career search when they graduate. They develop interviewing skills, learn professional attire expectations, network with industry professionals and create targeted resumes. Academy students graduate with the technical skills and confidence to enter their career upon graduation. During the end of their program, students take part in an internship, providing the field experience potential employers are seeking in new graduates. The Academy of Court Reporting and Technology offers lifetime career services to graduates. Our commitment extends beyond the time they are in our program, providing professional development support for their entire career.

Associate Degree Programs Offered at the Academy of Court Reporting and Technology
(Programs Vary by Campus)

Court Reporting - Graduates of the Court Reporting program have the skills they need to work as verbatim court reporters and are prepared to work as freelance reporters and courthouse official reporters. The program stresses practical and specific skills designed to meet the employment requirements for attorneys, courts, and court reporting firms. In addition to understanding the Code of Ethics and professional responsibilities of a court reporter, students develop competencies in basic court reporting technology and learn to prepare transcripts using computer-aided transcription.

Security & Investigation- The Security & Investigation program at the Academy of Court Reporting and Technology prepares graduates to work in a variety of positions in the private investigative and security fields. Students receive training in investigations, security, loss prevention and insurance disciplines along with related writing, office, and technology skills. Students actively engage in various investigative and surveillance techniques and practice procedures for researching and documenting evidence and crime scenes.

Paralegal - The Academy of Court Reporting and Technology Paralegal program is designed to prepare individuals for careers in legal assisting. While lawyers assume ultimate responsibility for legal work, they often delegate many of their tasks to paralegals. In fact, paralegals are continuing to assume a growing range of tasks in legal offices. The focus of the program is on customer service, critical thinking, assuming responsibility for legal documentation preparation, research and reporting.

Criminal Justice - With an associate degree in Criminal Justice from The Academy of Court Reporting and Technology, graduates will have the skills to prepare them for careers in public safety, crime prevention, corrections or court work. With the growing crime problem in our communities, the demand for qualified leaders in law enforcement and criminal justice systems is increasing. Criminal justice plays an important and critical role in the safety of our nation.

Legal Office Technology - The Academy of Court Reporting and Technology Legal Office program prepares students for a rewarding career assisting legal professionals. Focus is placed on practical and specific office skills designed to meet the needs of employers in the legal profession. Training develops competencies in basic office skills and teaches students to prepare various legal documents. In addition, students gain a general understanding of procedural law and the ethical and professional responsibilities of a legal office worker. Graduates enter the workforce prepared to perform administrative, clerical and legal duties in the modern law office.
