Established in 1929, Academy of Art University, is the nations largest private accredited art and design University, offering degree and certificate programs both on campus and online.

Location and Housing

Academy of Art University has called San Francisco home for more than 80 years. The moderate climate, diverse culture and breath-taking scenery make it an ideal location for budding artists and designers. The Academy residence halls are centrally located in the heart of the city, within walking distance of some of the most well known districts. Courtesy shuttles run from the residence halls to all academic facilities. Academy buildings have secured access entrances and roving 24-hour security patrols. Every summer the Academy offers a Campus Hospitality Program so prospective students can check out the Residence halls prior to enrolling. Saturday & Summer Pre-College Scholarship Programs

The Pre-College programs are designed to offer high school students the opportunity to explore various areas of art and design while earning college credit. Classes are available year round online or on campus. The programs are tuition FREE with a non-refundable registration cost of $235 for the Saturday Program and $525 for the Six-Week intensive Summer program. Early enrollment is recommended as the programs are first come, first served. Applications can be found at www.academyart.edu under Degrees and Classes.

Admissions Information

Academy of Art University maintains a no-barrier admissions policy for all undergraduate programs. The Academy was built on the educational philosophy that all students interested in studying art and design deserve the opportunity to do so. Previous experience with art and design is not required for admission, and students of all skill levels are encouraged to apply. The Academy offers foundations courses that provide students with the core art and design skills they will need to succeed.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree-seeking students must have a High school diploma, a GED, or may be admitted by passing a Department of Education approved "ability to benefit" test if beyond the age of compulsory attendance. The Academy of Art University accepts the following as proof of high school graduation.

Undergraduate Tuition Costs

Tuition is $670 per credit unit for undergraduate students. A full time student carries between 12 and 15 units per semester. The application fee is $100 for undergraduate students. There is a nonrefundable $130 registration fee-- $100 of which is applicable towards tuition. Lab fees generally run from $45 to $140 per semester (tuition and fees are subject to change).

Enrollment Deadlines

Enrollment deadlines are rolling. Applications for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters are accepted up to two-years in advance of intended start term.
