Training for a Career in Skincare

A School of the Healing Arts

Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics, A division of Atlanta School of MassageAtlanta Institute of Aesthetics was formed in 2002 as a division of Atlanta School of Massage. Named a 2004 School of Distinction by the ACCSCT national accrediting agency, Atlanta School of Massage has been an international leader in massage therapy education for 25 years. Formed by the same management team, with the same high standards in mind, Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics is following the same path of excellence set by its parent company. The Esthetics program, with its focus on skincare, is a natural progression from the massage program and compliments the existing massage school. Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics stands out amongst the multitude of esthetics schools operating across the country because our program is accredited by the ACCSCT and authorized by the US Department of Education to offer Title IV funding.

Esthetics Program

Our program content and clinic practicum meet the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology requirements for graduation and application for licensure that is required to practice as a professional esthetician in Georgia and other states. Students also earn certifications in the following specialties:

• Microdermabrasion

• Spa Therapies

• Foot Reflexology

Our 1000-hour skin care program requires students to successfully progress from introductory coursework to the study of advanced esthetics concepts:

• Foundation Courses
• Professional Practice Concepts

• Advanced Spa Therapies

• Advanced Esthetics

Foundation courses introduce you to the field of skin care. They prepare you to perform basic facials, waxing, makeup, lash and brow tinting, and provide you with the foundation necessary for advanced study. Advanced Spa Therapies courses include Aromatherapy and Reflexology, which are two of the four certifications earned by our graduates. Students also learn to operate and care for spa equipment, develop treatment plans, and practice creating custom treatments. Advanced Aesthetics courses cover advanced topics such as medical terminology, chemical peels & exfoliators and microdermabrasion. They provide students with invaluable hands on, supervised experience in the use of skin care machines such as those used for Microdermabrasion. Professional Practice courses guide students in the development of a professional image, teach valuable interviewing and resume writing skills and prepare students for the state board exam. Unlike many Esthetics schools, we understand that it is not just knowing facial techniques which creates an effective and successful skin therapist. We teach students the art of client communication and a client-centered philosophy. You learn how to interview, assess and treat each client to create a unique treatment experience, every session, every time. Upon graduating from our program, you will be prepared to move to the next level to find your dream job. Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics is changing the face of skin care education.
