Instructor Licensing Course
Applicants must have a high School Diploma or GED and hold a master license for at least 18 months.
This course is divided into three phases:
1. General Education (Vocabulary Development): This phase will introduce and prepare the trainee to function as a cosmetology instructor
2. Teaching Techniques (Audio Visual Aides): This phase will give trainees knowledge of teaching methods, teaching aids, class management, discipline, testing and evaluations;
3. Practice Teaching: During this phase trainees will learn areas in which adults may differ, teacher/student relations, and the art of teaching.
A. General Education --------------------------------------------------------- 200 hours
- Class instruction by a licensed instructor in the theory and practice of all requires subjects of cosmetology.
- State Cosmetology Board requirements and record keeping
- Salon management
- Principles of teaching cosmetology
B. Teaching techniques ------------------------------------------------------ 250 hours
- Developing lesson plans and presentation
- Classroom management and discipline
- Demonstrations and lecturing
- Testing and examinations
C. Practice Teaching ---------------------------------------------------------- 300 hours
MINIMUM TOTAL HOURS ----------------------------------------------------750 hours
