Why Study Aviation Science at Baylor?
Professional training in college environment
We know you've got a lot of options when it comes to planning your career in this field. But by choosing Baylor, you get to have the full college experience. We do more than train pilots- we give you a solid education coupled with opportunities to enjoy student life.
Hands-on learning experiences
Our graduates bring more than a transcript with them to their first interview. You'll have real-world experience on your resume. Over the course of the program, you'll earn flight credentials and qualifications, develop Safety Management Systems for firms with aviation operations, and evaluate Airport Terminal Area Master Plans.
The only Aviation Science program in Texas at a private university
Baylor's faith-based community allows you to grow personally as well as professionally. Here, you'll be among a community of caring faculty who care about each student as an individual. Baylor is big enough to give you access to great academic resources, but we're small enough to give you individual attention.
Admissions & Costs
How to Apply?
Completed applications received by November 1 will be reviewed for the first round of admission notifications. Any admission applications received after February 1 will be considered only on a space-available basis.
A completed file includes:
- Completed application
- Official SAT and/or ACT scores (with the essay portion completed)
- Official high school transcript (including grades through the end of the junior year and class rank)
- You may wish to enhance your file by submitting additional information:
- Résumé
- Recommendation letters
- Short answer questions.
The normal Baylor application process is all that is required to be considered for acceptance into the Aviation Science program. Because flight training is an integral part of the degree, flight training cost and FAA medical requirements should both be considered.
Once accepted at Baylor, students will then need to complete an online application to Texas State Technical College (TSTC). TSTC provides the FAA Part 141 ground school and is also the program's primary flight training provider. More information can be found at the Texas Technical Admissions Office website.
Financial Aid
Need options when it comes to funding for college? Let us help you explore the types of scholarships, grants and other financial aid available to incoming students. As a member institution of the University Aviation Association students can also apply for several aviation based scholarships that are offered.
Aviation employers require highly educated and well-trained individuals. This combination leads to a Bachelor of Science, a commercial pilot certification, and a certified flight instructor license (CFI). Baylor Aviation Science provides the student with the appropriate flight training but truly prepares the student for life after graduation. From analyzing synoptic weather trends to forecasting the highly cyclical aviation industry to preparing for the airline interview process, our students have the proven ability to excel in, and lead, all components of the aviation sector.
