Beginning Freshmen
Applicants who have had no previous college, university, or technical institute credit and desire to earn a diploma, degree, or certificate from DeKalb Tech are considered beginning freshmen and must submit the following:
- A completed application form to the Admissions Office.
- A $25.00 non-refundable application fee (Check or Money Order, Visa/Master Card only).
- An official high school transcript or GED scores. The applicant must request that official transcripts be mailed directly to the Admissions Office. If the transcript is in a language other than English, an official English translation is also required. Satisfactory scores on the COMPASS, SAT, ACT, CPE, or the ASSET Test.
- The COMPASS Test includes English, reading, and mathematics. Its purpose is to determine if a prospective student needs additional basic skills or courses before beginning a planned program of study. Applicants will be notified by mail of their need to take the COMPASS Test.
