Adult learners prepare for new, high paying careers at Great Oaks
A temperature of 98.6 degrees is normal, and a placement rate of 98.6% for adult graduates of Great Oaks programs is normal, as well. Program offerings are based on the needs of the region's job market, so people acquire skills that are in demand in southwestern Ohio.
Most of the classes in Great Oaks' full-time adult workforce development programs are scheduled on weekday evenings so students can work while attending school. Many of the programs can be completed in just a few months.
Course work includes training in resume writing, job seeking skills, and interviewing techniques, and job placement assistance is provided by the instructor and the Great Oaks Placement Office.
Great Oaks facilities are conveniently located and handicap-accessible, and there is ample free parking.

Auto Collision Technology
Prepare for employment in this high demand field! Placement opportunities exist in dealerships and independent automotive centers. Learners develop skills in structural and non-structural analysis and damage repair, metal and plastics finishing, painting refinishing, unibody repair, and detailing. The 42-week course is located at Scarlet Oaks in Sharonville.
Automotive—Ford ASSET/Associate Degree
This two-year program leads to an associate's degree in Automotive Technology from UC-Raymond Walters College. The program is co-sponsored by the Ford Motor Company and UC-Raymond Walters. Students work through five twenty-week training modules, ten weeks in the lab at Scarlet Oaks campus in Sharonville, and ten weeks at a sponsoring dealership. Academic classes are taken in the evening at UC-Raymond Walters.
Aviation
Maintenance Technician
Learners prepare for the Federal Aviation Administration exams to become licensed Airframe/Powerplant mechanics. The General/Airframe course takes 14 months to complete, and the Powerplant course is ten months long. Evening classes are offered. The program is located at the Laurel Oaks campus in Wilmington.
Carpentry/Qualified Framer
Co-sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati, this program develops such skills as cutting rafters and stairs, wall layout, production techniques to industry standards and quality, blueprint reading, estimating costs, and construction-related math. Construction site safety is emphasized. This program takes 30 weeks to complete. Job co-op and college credit are available. A stipend of $10 a day is provided. A daytime offering, the program is located at the Scarlet Oaks campus.
Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician New!
Learn all aspects of manufacturing and facilities maintenance; troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems. Gain skills for inspection, using testing instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters and bridges. Learn in a state-of-the-art classroom and lab. This program is located at the Scarlet Oaks campus.
Health Information Manager
This career field offers many opportunities in medical offices, hospitals, and healthcare facilities. Skills learned include medical terminology, computer applications, medical coding and billing, and medical transcription. The 42-week course is offered at the Diamond Oaks campus in western Hamilton County.
Heating/Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Participants learn to troubleshoot and repair gas, oil and electric furnaces; air conditioners; refrigeration units; and heat pumps. The course is accredited by the PAHRA and includes preparation for required industry certification. College credit is available. This program is offered in the evening at the Live Oaks campus and the Diamond Oaks campus.
Law Enforcement
The 725-hour basic police academy is offered under the direction of a State Certified Academy Commander. Participants who successfully complete the course and pass the state exam qualify for certification in the State of Ohio by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission. A full-time program, which takes 18 weeks to complete, is offered during the day; a part-time, 29-week program, is offered in the evening. The program is held at the Public Safety Services building on the Scarlet Oaks campus.
Practical
Nursing
The demand for healthcare workers continues to grow, and we've increased the number of program offerings! This program is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing (Address: 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006. Phone: 800.669.1656, ext. 153) and participants prepare for the STNA and NCLEX-PN (National Council Licensure Examination—Practical Nurse) exams. Students who wish to continue their education beyond the LPN level can earn as many as 30 credits toward an advanced degree at colleges and university. Daytime programs, which take 44 weeks to complete, are offered at the Laurel Oaks campus and the Scarlet Oaks campus. Evening part-time programs (72 weeks), are offered at the Diamond Oaks campus, Scarlet Oaks campus, and the Health Professions Academy in the Jewish Hospital Professional Building, 3120 Burnet Avenue in Cincinnati.
Welding New!
Gain skills in welding, brazing, cutting and fabrication. Learn how to read blueprints and lay out the work. Prepare for a career in aerospace, powerplants, manufacturing or the auto industry. This program is located at the Scarlet Oaks campus.
