Founded in 2004, HCC Coleman College, coleman.hccs.edu, confers associate degrees and certificates in 19 health science fields in a state-of-the-art academic environment.  A member institution of the Texas Medical Center (tmc.edu), HCC Coleman College provides students unsurpassed access to world-renown health science resources and as a campus of the Houston Community College System, offers affordable, rewarding futures.  Our vision is to be the preeminent health sciences community college in the nation, preparing students for today's health science careers, and a lifetime of learning.

HCC is an open-admission higher education institution, however, the health science programs at HCC Coleman College admit applications through a selection process. Each program establishes admission criteria, prerequisites, procedures, and most require a personal interview. Additionally, most programs have an admission deadline several months prior to the beginning of the semester to which applications are being accepted.

Clinical Laboratory Technician

A Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) solves medical mysteries and provides answers to critical questions for physicians and nurses concerning a patient.

Computed Tomography

CT technologists are specially trained radiologic technologists with the knowledge of physics, cross-sectional anatomy and computers.

Dental Assisting

As a vital member of the dental health team, the dental assistant prepares the patient for treatment, provides the dentist with necessary instruments, instructs patients in proper oral hygiene, records dental services, and performs various laboratory procedures and managerial duties for the office.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer receives specialized training to work with high-frequency sound waves that produce images of soft-tissue structures within the body.

Health Information Technology

A Health Information Technician, commonly known in the profession as a Registered Health Information Technician, performs a variety of health information-related functions, including organization, analysis, coding and technical evaluation of health information and interaction with administrative and financial departments of health-care facilities.

Histological Technician

The histologic technician works with a team of other health professionals and has minimal direct patient contact.  One works with instruments to process, embed, and section tissue onto microscopic slides.  Thereafter, the technician safely handles chemicals and dyes to perform tests on the sections to demonstrate pathological changes.

Medical Assistant

Nuclear Medicine Technology

The Nuclear Medicine Technology Program combines academic study with clinical laboratory experience at affiliated hospitals.  Graduates of the program may find employment in the areas of nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology, and positron emission tomography, and fusion imaging.

Physical Therapist Assistant

A Physical Therapist Assistant, who implements treatment plans under the direction of a Physical Therapist, is trained in the application of therapeutic modalities, such as cold, massage and electricity; exercise; prosthetics and orthotics, and functional activities in the rehabilitation and treatment of adults and children.

Respiratory Therapist

Surgical Technology

A Surgical Technologist, a member of the surgical team in an operating room, assists in delivering patient care before, during and following surgery. Applying the principles of sterile techniques, a surgical technologist prepares and knows specific uses of equipment, supplies and the numerous instruments required for all types of surgical procedures.
