About Hudson County Community College

Hudson County Community College is a comprehensive urban community college. The mission of the College is to offer high quality programs and services that are affordable, accessible, and community-centered. All programs and services are designed to meet the educational needs of a linguistically and ethnically /racially diverse community, and to promote the economic, technological, cultural, social, and civic development of Hudson County and its service areas. The provision of a supportive and affirmative educational environment, and the principles of lifelong learning, excellence, and opportunity are central to all programs and services.

Admissions

Hudson County Community College is an open admissions institution. All high school graduates, those holding a GED certificate, and other persons 18 years of age or older are eligible for admission. Individuals who are 18 and no longer attending high school are eligible for regular admission.

Registration is the process of advisement, selecting classes and developing a semester schedule. Students register part-time or full-time, for day or evening classes or a combination, and may shift from full-time to part-time each semester depending on their educational goals and the needs of their personal schedules.

Hudson County Community College provides various opportunities each semester to register for classes. They are: Mail-in Registration, In-Person Registration, and Phone-in Registration. The method by which students may register is determined by their current enrollment status. To insure that all course requirements are met, continuing students are encouraged to take advantage of early in-person registration following consultation with their advisors.

Students may apply as either matriculating [degree-seeking] or non-matriculating [non-degree seeking] students. Matriculating students may enroll as full-time [12 to a maximum of 18 credits] or part-time [11 credits or fewer]. Non-matriculating students are not eligible for financial aid assistance, and may be required to take the College Placement Test [CPT] based on their course selection.

Academic Programs

Hudson County Community College offers a full range of associate-degree and certificate programs, many of which may lead to immediate employment. Students may select courses of study in Allied Health, Business, Computer Science, Culinary Arts, Education, Engineering/Technology, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

If you opt for an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program, you will be able to immediately work in your chosen field, or you may go on to pursue a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university. If you choose to study for an Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree, you will graduate fully prepared to transfer to a bachelor's degree program. The College has articulation agreements with a variety of four-year institutions. These agreements enable students to transfer their credits to our partner colleges.
