Notre Dame's career-oriented liberal arts programs help students succeed in the real world. We offer bachelor's degrees in 29 majors, with interdisciplinary programs and self-designed majors, and exceptional programs in education, business and science.
A Catholic institution in the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame, the College was established in 1922, and has never been afraid of adapting to the changing needs of its students. Our biggest change came in January 2001, when NDC began admitting men into all its programs for the first time in its history.
That fall, the College also added men's varsity sports. Today, the Falcons participate in 23 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports in the Midwest and throughout the nation. Notre Dame belongs to the American Mideast Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the largest NAIA conference in the country. In July 2009, NDC announced that a membership application for NCAA Division II had been approved. Notre Dame began the 2009-10 academic year as a Candidacy Year-One Institution in the NCAA Division II membership process.
