As Pennsylvania's premier technical college, Pennsylvania College of Technology offers "degrees that work" in more than 100 different career areas.
Penn College is a special mission affiliate of Penn State, committed to applied technology education. Partnerships with business and industry provide students with opportunities for real-world experience in the classroom and on the job. Unique bachelor's and associate's degree programs combine hands-on instructional opportunities with theory and management education to prepare graduates for success in the world of work.
In Fall 2011, nearly 6,000 students were enrolled at Penn College. Forty-four percent of the student body were enrolled in baccalaureate degree majors that emphasize applied technology in fields ranging from business, computer, design, construction, and industrial technologies to health sciences, human services, hospitality, and transportation technologies. Other students are enrolled in programs that offer associate degrees or certificates, as well as college and university transfer options.
Penn College offers a rich campus life experience including on-campus and off-campus housing, intercollegiate and intramural athletics, Greek Life, student governance and organizations. The College also offers a wide variety of Workforce Development and Continuing Education initiatives that support business and industry, including the natural gas industry, throughout the commonwealth.
Partnerships with industry leaders like Ford, Honda, Caterpillar and Textron help students forge successful school-to-work relationships, and a faculty-to-student ratio of 1-to-17 ensures small class sizes. State-of-the-art teaching laboratories and industry-standard equipment are provided, and a variety of academic-support programs and services - including free tutoring - help students succeed.

The College's eight academic schools are: Business and Computer Technologies, Construction and Design Technologies, Health Sciences, Hospitality, Industrial and Engineering Technologies, Integrated Studies, Natural Resources Management, and Transportation Technology. Instruction is offered at the main campus and the Advanced Automotive Technology Center in Williamsport, the Lumley Aviation Center at the Williamsport Regional Airport in Montoursville and the Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood.
With one computer for every three students enrolled, there is easy access for completing homework assignments, performing research on the Internet and communicating with faculty, family and friends.
Modern student-residence complexes are available, serving 1,700 on-campus. Full-time Residence Life staff members supervise each facility, and trained Resident Assistants live on-site at each location.
A variety of privately-owned student residences also are available in the local community.
The Student and Administrative Services Center offers student-focused offices in one convenient location on the main campus (Admissions, Advisement Center, Financial Aid, Residence Life, Student Accounts and Registrar).
Penn College offers 10 dining units, and several meal-plan payment options are available. The Student Activities Office offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities, including musical performances, lectures, leadership programs, student clubs and organizations, and Greek life. The Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport is a wholly owned subsidiary of the College, offering fine live performances and films at affordable prices.
The College offers 13 varsity sports: five men's, five women's, and three co-ed teams. Most teams are eligible for national championships in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
Penn College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Pennsylvania College of Technology has partnered with WVIA to produce a public television series entitled "degrees that work" that explores career options that may not be completely familiar to the general public.
The first four series episodes are focused on careers related to advanced materials and diversified manufacturing. Upcoming episodes will feature on opportunities in "green" career fields, such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, clean transportation, agriculture and resource conservation.
Episodes of "degrees that work" may be viewed on public television stations in the region (WVIA and WPSU) and online. For more information about Penn College, please contact:
