ABOUT US:
Expect to evolve and become inspired. The Art Institute of Houston is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Art Institutes, one of North America’s leaders in postsecondary career-oriented education for the creative arts.
From its founding in 1965, until joining The Art Institutes system of schools in 1978, The Art Institute of Houston was known as the Houston School of Commercial Art. In December 1990, the school moved to its current facility at 1900 Yorktown in the Galleria area.
LOCATION:
Located in the heart of the nation’s fourth largest city, and easily one of the most happening. The Art Institute of Houston boasts a mild, semi-tropical climate with sunny beaches nearby in Mexico. A fine arts mecca, Houston is home to several major art museums, a premiere opera, ballet and symphony, and live theater companies. Culturally diverse, there are several international ethnic communities. You’ll find great restaurants and an eclectic nightlife. The best in major league sports, rodeo and so much more.
