Wright State University-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health

Named after Orville and Wilbur Wright, the inventors of powered flight, Wright State University continues their tradition of innovation.  A rich and dynamic community of over 17,000 students, Wright State is a place where tomorrow takes flight.

Wright State University is dedicated to teaching, research, and service.  The university serves nearly 17,000 students with programs leading to more than 100 undergraduate and 50 graduate and professional degrees through six colleges and three schools.  More than 130 student clubs and organizations give vibrancy to campus life.  About 2,800 students live in modern residence halls, complete with Internet hook-ups on or adjacent to campus.

Wright State offers 16 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs, and many students participate in intramural sports programs.  The Ervin J. Nutter Center, a 12,000-seat entertainment and sports complex, and other recreational facilities are available to students on a daily basis.

Wright State University-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and offers an exceptional educational program for pre-licensure students, an accelerated program for those with a non-nursing baccalaureate degree, an RN/BSN completion program for registered nurses, a Master of Science degree (MS) with eight concentrations and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

The College of Nursing and Health is located in University Hall—a state-of-the-art educational facility.  Clinical instructional facilities are abundant and varied. The college has contracts with over 200 agencies in the area including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, county health departments, nursing homes, school systems, senior citizen centers, and day care centers which can be used for clinical experiences and/or research.

PROGRAMS

The undergraduate pre-licensure program is a four-year program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN).  Professional nurses provide care for patients of diverse and multicultural backgrounds, and should represent those backgrounds.  The admission process will seek applicants with evidence of intellectual ability, maturity, motivation, ability to interact with diverse populations, dedication to human concerns, ability to independently learn, ability to perform functions required in the practice of nursing, and potential for providing nursing services to underserved areas of Ohio.  Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

ADMISSIONS

Applications for the undergraduate program are accepted for fall quarter and spring quarter.  All applicants are reviewed on their academic qualifications.

COSTS

Tuition for full-time undergraduate students is $2,511.  Non-Ohio residents pay a higher fee.
